If you’re a traveller, you know how difficult it can be to stay in shape. Your normal daily routine will likely be completely thrown out of the window.

In this article, we’re going to share 3 tips with you about how you can stay in shape while travelling and enjoying yourself.

Tip 1. Prioritize bodyweight workouts

When you’re travelling, you may not always have access to a gym. Your hotel may not have a gym, or if you’re staying in a hostel or an AirBnb apartment, you won’t have access to any gym or even calisthenics equipment.  Learn more about customer experience.

In this case, the best thing you can do is to use bodyweight workouts. There are many exercises you can do with your body weight to train your back, chest, arms, legs and abs.

You can do pullups, pushups, dips, squats, planks, crunches and many other exercises almost anywhere. If these exercises are too easy for you, you can always do more challenging versions of them like Bulgarian or pistol squats, plyo pushups and dragon flags.

Doing compound bodyweight will ensure that you work out your main muscles.

Tip 2. Your diet is 80% of the success

When travelling it can be challenging to find ways to eat healthy food. Sometimes you may be on the road, in other cases eating at fancy restaurants can be expensive.

One of the best things you can do is make sure that you’ll have access to a kitchen where you can cook for yourself. That way it won’t be expensive and you’ll have full control over the food you eat.

If you have to eat outside, don’t fall for quick snacks with lots of sugar or fat. Take some fruits with you when you go out for longer periods of time to make sure you’ll always have a healthy snack with you.

Tip 3. Be active and keep it simple

You may not always be able to do your indoor cycling classes workout as planned because of your plans. That’s fine as long as you stick to your routine most of the days.

At the end of the day, you want to have fun and not turn your trip into a chore. In some cases, you can swap your typical cardio workout with some fun like swimming in the ocean or going on long walks around the city.

As long as you’re active and don’t ruin your diet, you will be fine.

Conclusion

As you can see, it’s not hard to stay in shape when you’re travelling as long as you’re willing to adjust and keep things simple.
