What is Neem?

The neem ( Azadirachta indica ) is an evergreen that can reach 20 meters high and grow throughout India and nearby regions, grown for commercial purposes. Nimba’s other name for neem, its flowers are white, and its fruits are yellow, and in naturopathy, it is one of the best purifiers and cleaners of the blood.

  • 1-Diabetes

Contraindications and Possible Side Effects

It is safe for most adults, although taken for too long can damage the liver and kidneys.
Special caution must taken in:

  • Children: taking neem seeds or oil can be unsafe for children. It can cause diarrhea, vomiting, drowsiness, seizures, coma, loss of consciousness, or even death. Avoid in children.
  • Pregnancy: it can be dangerous when taken orally during pregnancy, causing an abortion. Although not enough is known, avoid its use.
  • Infertility: if you are trying to have a child, avoid using it.

How to make Neem oil?

To prepare 1 liter from a 0.5% dilution of neem needed:

  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of neem oil.
  • 1-2 ml (1/3 teaspoon) of insecticidal soap or another detergent.
  • 1 liter of warm water.
  • If you want to make a more concentrated batch, you will need to increase the amount of neem oil and the amount of soap.To prepare 20 liters of a 1% solution of neem is required:
  • 200 ml of neem oil.
  • 30 ml of insecticidal soap.
  • 20 liters of water.


    • Use a high-quality, organic, cold-pressed oil.
    • Use warm water, if possible.
    • If you think of making a large batch, first make a premix in a small amount of warm water, then add the rest of the water.
    • Ideally, mix the hot water with the soap first.
    • Then slowly add the oil while stirring vigorously.

Additional Instructions

  • Spray neem insecticide solution on all leaves, especially those parts where insects like to hide. If you have enough liquid, soak the soil around the roots as well.
  • Do not let so much time pass to use it. Once mixed, Neem oil tends to break down. Preferably, only prepare the amount you need to use.
  • As a preventive measure, you can spray the mixture once every two weeks, with a 0.5% solution.
