About Kinesiology Tape

Kinesiology Tape Write For Us: It is a thin elastic cotton bandage that has the distinction of being able to stretch up to 130-140% of its original length. It contains a thin layer of medical glue that adheres to the skin and allows it to breathe. They reduce the pain and inflammation of the muscles, relax them from excess, improve blood circulation, stabilize the joints and support the forces in their movement 24 hours a day.

The physician developed these bands were developed in the mid-1970s the physician as a “method to aid the body’s natural recovery.” The tape created by Kase has a texture and elasticity very similar to human skin, so it adapts perfectly to the practice of any sport.

Kinesiology Tape relieves pain and improves circulation. To know how your bands work, you first have to think about how your muscles are injured. When they become inflamed or contracted, the area compresses, compressing the veins, arteries, and lymphatics and causing pain.

These bands, placed correctly, slightly tighten and lift the skin. It improves local circulation and tissue drainage. The tension in the area is reduced, space is decompressed, and the pain decreases.

A physiotherapist will show you how to apply the tape according to the pattern/position to help your specific problem. The tape can be used in an X, Y, I, or fan shape depending on your goals.

  1. Clean and dry the area first. Lotions and oils prevent the tape from sticking
  2. Trim the excess hair.
  3. For most treatments, you will start by tearing off the protective paper in the center.
  4. Cut the rounded corners off the ends of each strip if you don’t have them already. Rounded corners are less likely to catch on clothing and help keep the tape longer
  5. When applying the first tab to anchor the tape, allow the end to retract slightly after removing the backing paper.
  6. Keep your fingers on the wrapping paper to hold the ribbon. Touching the sticky part will make it less sticky.
  7. Your therapist can tell you how much stretch to use in the treatment area.
  8. As you stretch the ribbon, use your entire thumb on the ribbon to pull it evenly.
  9. After applying the tape, rub the tape vigorously for several seconds. The heat activates the glue.

Tips to Remove Kinesiology Tape

  • Apply oil (such as baby oil or olive oil) or lotion to the tape to loosen the tape.
  • Slowly remove it. Don’t pull like you’re waxing
  • After pushing one end of the tape, press your skin to separate it from the tape
  • Pull the tape against itself rather than away from you. Gently compress the skin while pulling the tape in the direction of the tab at the end
  • Run your fingers over the skin as you go
  • If your skin is irritated or damaged, do not reapply the tape. Consider talking to your physiotherapist or doctor
